Our final fixture before the international break takes us across London to play West Ham United in the WSL, and Sonia Bompastor has explained how she will decide her team for Sunday’s derby.

We travel east looking to build on our excellent start to the season. Bompastor’s side have won three and drawn one of our opening four league games, while in the Champions League our hard-earned point at Lyon midweek followed a tight 1-0 success against Austria Vienna.

With the West Ham game coming hot off the heels of our trip to France, which in turn succeeded Sunday’s victory against Arsenal, Bompastor was asked at her media conference at Cobham if she would be rotating her side this weekend.

‘This club is so used to playing every three days,’ the head coach pointed out. ‘We build a squad for that reason.

‘It’s good to have the opportunity to rotate when we feel it’s appropriate. We will see what we do on Sunday, but the West Ham game is as important as the Arsenal one a week ago. It’s three points.

‘When you are getting good results, it helps a lot in terms of the recovery, the physical aspects but mainly the mental aspects, the confidence. It gives you a boost to be ready for the next one.

‘We are in a good place, and we have one more to go before the international break and that’s important for us.’
