And Bompastor has confirmed Sunday’s trip to the North-West will come too soon for the French international.

‘Unfortunately she won’t be able to return to Man United and play the game,’ said Bompastor.

‘She’s close to returning, but probably next weekend.’

Mayra Ramirez, Manaka Matsukubo and Nathalie Bjorn also missed our opening league fixture, and Bompastor provided the latest on that trio, with the most positive news regarding the Swedish defender.

‘All of them won’t be available to play this game,’ said Bompastor.

‘Nat Bjorn is starting to train fully with the team so she will be travelling with us. We will see if she has minutes or not.’

Despite their injuries, it was an exciting week for Matsukubo and Malard, both of whom were nominated for the Ballon d’Or award. Bompastor was thrilled about that achievement and can’t wait to welcome them both back to the pitch.
