Sonia Bompastor says maintaining her unbeaten Women's Super League record as Chelsea head coach never enters her thinking when planning and preparing for matches.

Bompastor has achieved great success since replacing Blues legend Emma Hayes at the helm in the summer of 2024. Her first campaign ended with Chelsea securing a domestic Treble, with the Women's Super League title, Women's FA Cup and Women's League Cup claimed.

Our domestic dominance is reflected in the fact Bompastor has yet to taste defeat in WSL action. She has overseen 31 top-flight matches as Blues head coach, with 25 ending in victory and six as draws.

That run, coupled with dominant wins in the final three matches of the 2023/24 campaign, saw Chelsea set a new unbeaten WSL record (34 games) before the international break. We will look to extend it further against Everton this Sunday.

While proud of what has been achieved, Bompastor insists simply avoiding defeat to preserve a record never comes into her thinking before and during matches. She plans for victory regardless of the circumstances.

‘I don’t mention anything about it,' the Blues head coach explained during her pre-match press conference. 'We’re in the mindset that when we started the new season, we started from zero.

'For now, we haven’t won anything, so we want to go into every game to give ourselves a high chance to win and be in the best place possible to compete once again for trophies this season.'

The Blues head coach continued: ‘I always plan to win the games when I'm approaching them; that is myself and also that is who we are as a club.

'We have quality in the squad to make sure we approach every game with the desire to win, that is part of our DNA, and a winning mentality is part of the values we have.

'The game on Sunday is really important because the league is really competitive and is getting more difficult each season. I expect Everton to come and put us under pressure and make it a challenge. But we have the quality to face the challenge and to be able to win the game.'
