Chelsea captain Millie Bright has been named on the King's New Year Honours list, which recognises the achievements and service of people from across the United Kingdom.

Bright, who captained England at last summer's World Cup in Australia, has been made an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire).

The Blues defender played a key role in helping the Lionesses reach the final of the tournament, where they were narrowly beaten by Spain.

On her return to Chelsea, the 30-year-old was named captain of our Women's side by Emma Hayes. It was a decision that recognised Bright's influence on and off the pitch at the club, which she joined in 2014 from Doncaster Belles.

Bright has made more than 250 appearances for Chelsea and has won six Women's Super League titles, the Spring Series, four Women's FA Cups, two Conti Cups, and the FA Community Shield.

Congratulations, Millie.
