Ahead of tonight's decisive second leg of our UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final with Barcelona, Kadeisha Buchanan has highlighted the confidence and focus she and her Chelsea teammates must display at Stamford Bridge.

Erin Cuthbert's fine strike in the first leg ensured we take a one-goal advantage into this evening's contest at Stamford Bridge – it also inflicted Barcelona's first home loss in five years.

Avoid defeat and Emma Hayes's side advance into the Champions League final for the second time in four years. Yet Buchanan insists that prospect has not yet been thought about. The focus is firmly on Barcelona.

'I would sum [the first leg] up as a job well done,' says the Canadian international. 'We’ve put ourselves in a good position but it’s not done yet. It’s just half time and we all know this.

'Coming back to the Bridge, we need to keep that defensive work, put in that defensive shift 100 per cent, but add a bit more to the attack to help us secure the win and see us into the final

'Once we found the bit of confidence [in the first leg] we did really well – and that extra confidence led to the extra pass for the goal. We can hopefully see a bit more of that here at Stamford Bridge.

'We limited Barcelona in terms of their opportunities, so now it’s about repeating that but do it better.'

Buchanan was involved in one of the major flashpoints of the first leg when a penalty was awarded to Barcelona after a shot from Patri Guijarro struck the arm of the Blues centre-back.

However, VAR rightly highlighted that Barcelona forward Salma Paralluelo was interfering in play from an offside position and the decision was changed.

'My heart sank a little bit [when the penalty was awarded] as the player involved in it, I thought it would have been harsh,' reflects Buchanan.

'It’s not like no one was around me and the ball just hit my hand, there was more to the handball than that. But thanks VAR, thank you for being in the Champions League. I appreciate that!'

History has been achieved ahead of tonight's game with Stamford Bridge sold out for the first time for a women's match. The contest is also the last game Emma Hayes will coach at our stadium.

And Buchanan has called on the Chelsea supporters to help the side reach next month's final in Bilbao.

She says: 'I’m definitely excited to play in front of our home crowd. We need that 12th player, it’s crucial for us to have them on our side, at our home. It can just boost us to a whole other level.

'Playing in front of a full Stamford Bridge, under the lights – there’s no better feeling than that for a Chelsea team. For a visiting team, we want them to feel intimidated.'
