Our third away game in a row takes us to Turf Moor, a happy hunting ground in recent years, and we begin our preview of the game by taking a closer look at all the stats and facts...

Chelsea have lost just one of our 12 Premier League games against Burnley (eight wins, three draws), a 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of 2017/18.

The Blues have won five of our six Premier League away games against Burnley, scoring at least twice in each victory.

We are unbeaten at Turf Moor since losing 0-3 in April 1983 in the old Second Division.

The Blues last lost a top-flight encounter at Turf Moor in August 1973, when we were beaten by an 80th-minute Frank Casper goal with Dave Sexton in charge.

Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic both scored their first goals of the season on Wednesday against Krasnodar, taking our total to 13 different scorers in just 10 games in 2020/21.

Chelsea have scored 45 away goals in the Premier League since the start of last season. Only Man City (50) have netted more in the same period.

The Blues are hoping to keep consecutive away clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since October 2018.

Edouard Mendy is looking to become the first keeper to keep a clean sheet in his first three Premier League appearances for the Blues since Petr Cech in August 2004.

Frank Lampard’s side are hoping to extend our unbeaten run in all competitions (excluding shoot-outs) to nine games since our defeat to Liverpool in September.

Chelsea will be aiming to start a Premier League season undefeated in our opening four away games for the first time since 2018/19.

Burnley are looking for their first Premier League win of the season. They have lost their last three at Turf Moor. The last time they lost four home league games in a row was in April 2010.

Burnley have only won one of their past 24 Premier League home fixtures against ‘big six’ opposition – a 2-1 victory against Tottenham in February 2019.

Burnley are seeking a league win at Turf Moor for the first time since beating Watford 1-0 on 25 June. Since then their home results have been: Sheffield United 1-1, Wolves 1-1, Brighton 1-2, Southampton 0-1 and Tottenham 0-1.

Sean Dyche’s side have won one point from the last possible 18 since winning at Norwich in July.

Burnley (five games) and our next league opponent Sheffield United (six games) have scored the fewest goals in the Premier League this season – three.

Josh Brownhill's booking for Burnley against Tottenham after 63 seconds is the earliest in a Premier League game this season.
