Moises Caicedo has said he wants to ‘become a legend’ at Chelsea, while also praising the support of our overseas fans.
The Blues are currently in Hong Kong as part of our pre-season tour, with a clash with Juventus at the Kai Tak Stadium awaiting us later today.
Caicedo has teamed up with Xabi Alonso’s squad after missing most of the Australia leg, with the midfielder hoping to feature against the Italian side tonight as he builds up his fitness ahead of the new season.
And after extending his Chelsea stay earlier this year, the midfielder is hoping for a successful season under Alonso and has outlined his aims ahead.
‘I wanted to keep playing for the club,’ Caicedo explained of his decision to extend his deal at Chelsea.
‘The club wanted to renew the contract and I said yes because I want to become a legend here. That is why I renewed my contract and for all of us, it’s important.’
Speaking of the support the club have received in Hong Kong, Caicedo stated he has been overwhelmed by the fans in Asia and highlighted that their passion doesn’t go unnoticed by the players.
‘The people here have been great,’ the Ecuadorian midfielder added. ‘We feel like we are at home.
‘Everyone here has been very kind. It’s my first time here in Hong Kong and I feel it’s like a home to me already. So for that, I want to say thank you to the fans.
‘The way they support us with the time difference is incredible, it is not easy for them to watch in the Premier League. So we really appreciate them, because we feel and realise that the supporters here give everything for us.’
