Ellie Carpenter and Sam Kerr helped Australia reach the Asian Cup quarter-finals with a 4-0 win over Iran, while the USA recorded a second win in the SheBelieves Cup with two Blues in the starting XI.
The Matildas had already made a strong start to the competition with a 1-0 victory over the Philippines, and secured their place in the knockout rounds with a game to spare, thanks to a brace from Alanna Kennedy and a goal apiece from Mary Fowler and Amy Sayer.
Chelsea's Carpenter linked up well with Sayer down the right on Australia's first goal, and Kerr had the ball in the back of the net just before half-time, but her strike was ruled out for offside by the Video Assistant Referee.
The result means the Matildas will finish either first or second in Group A, depending on the outcome of their final group match with Korea Republic in Sydney on Sunday.
Meanwhile, USWNT head coach Emma Hayes selected both Naomi Girma and Alyssa Thompson for the SheBelieves Cup clash against Canada.
Girma wore the captain's armband in the 1-0 win that came courtesy of a strike from Ally Sentnor, and the Blues defender played the whole match, while Thompson was replaced by Jaedyn Shaw for the final minutes.
The win puts the US at the top of the standings in the SheBelieves Cup with six points heading into the final match day. That means Hayes' side would only need a draw on Saturday against Colombia to win their eighth SheBelieves Cup title.
