After scoring the only goal of the game in our 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday, Catarina Macario spoke of Chelsea's hunger to finish the entire campaign unbeaten in what could be a special occasion at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Blues face Liverpool in the final game of the season, and will lift the Women's Super League trophy in front of our fans.
Despite a heavily rotated starting XI against Spurs, Macario described how the team remained determined to keep our incredible run going.
'I think sometimes people can get a bit complacent after they win, after they know they're champions,' she said. 'So I think the Spurs game was all about stepping in and still trying to keep that ruthless mentality and keep our record of trying to not lose any games.
'Spurs did a great job in pushing us until the end. We're just happy to have come out with a win. I think we probably could have scored a few more goals, but it happens. We just have to learn from it. One more to go.'
Having already clinched the WSL title this season, a win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge would see us record an 'invincible' WSL season.
Macario reflected on having already sealed the title and looked ahead to what will be a weekend of celebration for us, before she reflected on the tough competition within a highly talented squad.
'I think it's a tremendous achievement,' the striker continued. 'I think it's a big testament to the strength of this team and our mentality. I think Sonia [Bompastor] has just done such a great job in coming in after Emma [Hayes] and has taken us to another level. I think we're really hungry to keep that going and especially to top it off at the Bridge next week.
'We have such a big squad and such amazing players as well. I think we all welcome the competition, to be honest. It will make us even better as players. Of course, everyone wants to be playing, but at the end of the day, whether you're starting or not, you have a big role to play in helping the team be successful. I think that's what we've all been trying to do.
'We still have another big one to go. It's always trying to get to another level every single day, every single training session and every game.'
