Chelsea Foundation proudly announces Gareth Davies as our Community Captain, with him receiving his well-deserved recognition from Marc Cucurella, as part of the Premier League’s More than a Game campaign.

Gareth is social inclusion manager for Chelsea Foundation and for over 17 years has played a crucial role in a wide variety of community projects, making a significant impact on the lives of people in the local community.

One of those projects is Chelsea Foundation’s Premier League Kicks programme, which Gareth has led since 2012. We operate nearly 30 Premier League Kicks sessions across four London boroughs and Surrey every week. It is one of the largest Kicks programmes in the country. Chelsea Foundation selected Gareth for his unwavering dedication to delivering opportunities for young people, especially those at risk of not reaching their full potential.

Phil Hastings, head of community programmes at Chelsea Foundation, said: ‘Gareth’s commitment to ensuring engagement with Chelsea Foundation and Premier League projects is unparalleled, earning him respect from the communities we serve, our partners, and staff. Gareth consistently goes above and beyond, making him one of the most dedicated and supportive individuals within our organisation.

‘He takes an immense amount of pride in representing Chelsea Foundation and Chelsea Football Club, ensuring we maintain our position as one of the world’s leading football social responsibility programmes, using the power of football to motivate, educate and inspire our communities. Gareth exemplifies the values of dedication, inclusivity, and empowerment.’

Upon receiving his recognition which took place as a surprise at Chelsea’s training ground during a football session with Premier League Kicks participants, Gareth said: ‘Being recognised as Chelsea Foundation’s Community Captain is a special day for me. To be recognised for doing a job I am extremely passionate about really is an honour and it’s a privilege to work with such a great team.’

As part of the Premier League More than a Game campaign, Gareth received a personalised community captain armband, pennant and portrait.

John Joseph B.E.M, Metropolitan Police PL Kicks coordinator, said: ‘In Gareth you have someone who is very forward-thinking, sees the bigger picture and recognises opportunities. His relationship-building skills are exemplary and I can’t tell you just how great it is for me to have him as a sounding board and someone to partner with on the Premier League Kicks project.’
