Chelsea can confirm that defender Cerys Brown will spend the remainder of the 2023/24 season on loan at Watford of the Barclays Women’s Championship.

In July, the 18-year-old signed her first professional contract with the Blues until the summer of 2024, with the option to extend for a further year. She joined Chelsea in August 2021, where she became part of our Academy programme.

During the 2022/23 campaign, Brown performed impressively in defence for club and country.

She was part of the FA Women’s Academy Cup winning squad and her performances were duly recognised at the club’s end-of-season awards where she was named Under-18 Player of the Season.

Meanwhile, Brown made her first team debut for the Blues at the quarter-final stage of the Women’s FA Cup last March, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 3-1 victory over Reading en route to a third successive FA Cup triumph at Wembley.

For the remainder of the campaign, the young defender will continue her development out on loan with Watford in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Everyone at Chelsea would like to extend their best wishes to Cerys during her time with Watford.
