The second day of our pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia consisted of more work on the training pitch and an afternoon boat trip for the players, before we hosted an Auckland run club in association with Strava.
The day began with another training session at Eden Park in the morning as Sonia Bompastor continues to prepare her side for our pre-season friendly against Auckland FC on Saturday.
The players returned to the hotel and refuelled at lunchtime. There was then a special experience planned in the afternoon aboard an America's Cup yacht, the group setting sail from Waitemata Harbour under the guidance of a professional crew.
We then turned the New Zealand capital blue in the evening with glow sticks, caps and Chelsea shirts as we engaged with the local community, hosting a run club with ex-Blues goalkeeper Carly Telford and local broadcaster Brodie Kane.
The six-and-a-half-kilometre run took around 80 local Chelsea fans through picturesque streets of Auckland and was also attended by head coach Sonia Bompastor and her staff.
Chelsea announced in July that we had partnered with Strava, in what was a first for teams in the Premier League and Women's Super League, bringing the global Blues family closer together through running, training and wellness. And that was exactly what happened in Auckland as our run club was recorded on the official Strava app!
