Our summer tour continues as Chelsea Women settled into their surroundings on their first full day in New Zealand and got preparations underway for our opening pre-season fixture.

After shaking off the effects of a 30-hour journey from London to Auckland, via Singapore and Sydney, and the 11-hour time difference, it was time to get to work on tour for the Blues.

Sonia Bompastor and her squad got their first look at Eden Park, the stadium which will host Saturday’s match against local side Auckland FC, on Wednesday morning.

That stadium will also be the venue for Chelsea’s training sessions during our time in New Zealand, with Bompastor putting her squad through their paces on the pitch before the players continued their work in the gym, building up to our first game of pre-season.

The Blues then met representatives from the local government and Saturday’s opponents Auckland, before travelling to Orakei Marae to receive a traditional Māori welcome to New Zealand.
