When and where?

Emma Hayes and her team will host Portuguese side Benfica at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday night and the match kicks off at 7pm.

The game will unfortunately be played behind closed doors as we continue to follow the government guidelines around Covid-19.

The form

The Blues picked up three points in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League against a solid Brighton & Hove Albion side on Sunday courtesy of Sam Kerr’s first-half header.

Pernille Harder was involved in the build-up, before hitting the byline and whipping in a peach of a cross that our No.20 met with a glancing header across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

Benfica were last in action when they hosted the Blues last Wednesday.

Chelsea v Benfica head-to-head record

The Blues’ European campaign got off to the best possible start when we comfortably won the first leg in Lisbon thanks to goals from Fran Kirby, Millie Bright, Pernille Harder and Bethany England.

Kirby got us off to a flier when she found the back of the net inside two minutes of play and it was a milestone goal for the Chelsea forward who has now become the Blues’ all-time leading goalscorer. Bright doubled our lead with a bullet header and then Kirby got her second of the encounter with a smart finish from close range. We went into the break 4-0 up thanks to a Harder header and England notched her first-ever European goal shortly after the break with a composed finish.

Next match for the Blues

Chelsea’s last WSL match of the calendar year takes place at Kingsmeadow on Sunday. We will welcome Tottenham Hotspur for the second time this season and the match kicks off at 2pm and is once again live on our Chelsea platforms.

Ticket refund update for next two home games

Following the UK Government’s announcement that London is now under Tier 3 restrictions, Chelsea Football Club is disappointed to confirm supporters can no longer attend the two upcoming matches at Kingsmeadow.

Supporters who secured tickets for any of those games will be entitled to a full refund. Further details can be found here.
