With Chelsea’s trophy-laden 2024/25 season now at a close, we recap our players’ campaigns position by position, beginning with the goalkeepers.
After securing a Champions League berth for next term with victory at Nottingham Forest on the final day, the Blues lifted the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup, crowning a fantastic season for Enzo Maresca and his men.
For these reviews, our qualifying criteria is that players were in our Club World Cup squad at the end of the season and appeared at least once competitively. We start with the two goalkeepers…
Robert Sanchez
Total appearances: 40 (all starts)
Minutes played: 4,031
Clean sheets: 13
Robert Sanchez was a near-ever-present in the Premier League and kept three clean sheets in six appearances at the Club World Cup, where his stellar form earned him the Golden Glove award.
The Spaniard recorded the best save percentage (81.5 per cent) and prevented the most goals (4.2) compared to the Expected Goals (xG) he faced (9.2) at the tournament.
Domestically, Sanchez won the Premier League’s October Save of the Month award for a stunning last-gasp stop to deny Nottingham Forest’s Jota Silva.
That save preserved us a point which would prove pivotal in our hunt for a Champions League berth, and Sanchez helped us achieve that target by finishing the season strongly. He registered clean sheets against Everton, Manchester United and Forest, with his handling under pressure at the City Ground on the final day of the very highest order.
Filip Jorgensen
Total appearances: 24 (all starts)
Minutes played: 2,316
Clean sheets: 10
Our run to the final of the UEFA Conference League meant Filip Jorgensen was afforded plenty of playing time in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
He started all but one game in that competition, keeping six clean sheets in 14 matches as we went on to lift the trophy in Wroclaw.
Domestically, Jorgensen appeared in both cup competitions and was given a run in the Premier League side in February.
The Danish international recorded a clean sheet in his 24th and final game of the campaign, the 3-0 victory against ES Tunis in the Club World Cup.
You can watch the world champions back in action at Stamford Bridge next month when we take on Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan in the VisitMalta Weekender!
