With the final whistle blown on our 2025/26 campaign, we summarise each of our players’ seasons position by position, starting today with the goalkeepers.
There were 59 games played in total across four different competitions. The Blues finished tenth in the Premier League, reached the last 16 of the Champions League, lost the FA Cup final to Manchester City and were knocked out the Carabao Cup at the semi-final stage.
For these reviews, our qualifying criteria is that players were in our squad at the end of the season and appeared at least once competitively. We start with the two goalkeepers…
Robert Sanchez
Total appearances: 50 (49 starts)
Minutes played: 4844
Clean sheets: 15
Nobody spent more time on the pitch for Chelsea in 2025/26 than Robert Sanchez, who kept 15 clean sheets in his 50 appearances in all competitions.
The keeper was voted the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for November after a string of impressive performances, notably against Tottenham and Arsenal.
He picked up the Player of the Match award for keeping Bournemouth at bay in early December with a string of fine saves. Later that month, he became the first Chelsea goalkeeper since Petr Cech to register a Premier League assist, with Joao Pedro latching on to his long ball to score at Newcastle.
Sanchez produced several vital stops in the dramatic 3-2 win at Napoli, and while he briefly lost his place in the team in early spring, he was back between the posts as 2025/26 drew to a close.
At the campaign’s end, the Spaniard’s display at home to Aston Villa was nominated for the Premier League’s Goalkeeper Performance of the Season award.
Filip Jorgensen
Total appearances: 12 (10 starts)
Minutes played: 1074
Clean sheets: 1
Filip Jorgensen was a regular in the domestic cup competitions as the Blues reached the semi-final of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup final.
The Denmark international played in both Premier League away games against the Manchester clubs and a couple of league phase victories in the Champions League. In March, Jorgensen returned to the starting XI but then suffered a groin issue that ruled him out for several weeks.
