To mark the seventh day of Advent as Christmas draws ever nearer, we have picked out seven special goals scored by Chelsea players who were wearing the number seven shirt.

The Blues have been blessed with plenty of amazing No.7s over the years, from the likes of Charlie Cooke and Pat Nevin – although before defined squad numbers existed – to modern-day greats such as Ramires and N’Golo Kante.

The number lends itself to attacking midfielders or wingers, but that is not to say strikers have not also worn the shirt, and one features in our list of seven...

Bjarne Goldbaek vs Tottenham | May 1999

Danish midfielder Bjarne Goldbaek took the number seven shirt for the latter part of the 1998/99 campaign after he and compatriot Brian Laudrup swapped clubs.

His undoubted highlight wearing the shirt was a 30-yard rocket that secured us a share of the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane. What a strike!

Didier Deschamps vs Hertha Berlin | November 1999 CL

World Cup and twice Champions League winner Didier Deschamps only netted one goal for Chelsea during his solitary season at Stamford Bridge – but what a goal it was!

The Frenchman had never previously scored in the competition, but smashed a thunderous shot past Gabor Kiraly to put us in front against Hertha Berlin en route to us topping our Champions League group.

Andriy Shevchenko vs Tottenham | March 2007

Probably the best goal Andriy Shevchenko scored for the Blues came against Tottenham in an FA Cup quarter-final replay at White Hart Lane in 2007.

It was a goal to savour from the Ukrainian as he cut in from wide and picked out the top corner with his weaker left foot as we battled to a 2-1 win en route to winning the Cup.

Ramires vs Man City | March 2011

The first of two entrants and two Chelsea Goals of the Season scored by Ramires was a jinking effort in a 2-0 victory at home to Manchester City.

He showed off his samba skills, dancing between some bewildered defenders before finishing with aplomb past Joe Hart.

Ramires vs Barcelona | April 2012

One of the most iconic Chelsea goals, Ramires lobbed Victor Valdes after racing on to Frank Lampard’s stunning through ball in the Nou Camp.

It got us right back into the Champions League semi-final tie and laid the platform for a heroic defensive display in the second half as we booked our ticket to Munich.

Kante vs Man Utd | October 2016

N’Golo Kante didn’t often find the net in blue, but when he did, it was usually a cracker!

The French midfielder’s first goal for us began that trend, as he weaved his way through the Manchester United defence after getting on the end of a Pedro flick and calmly placed the ball past David De Gea during a big home win in 2016.

Neto vs Arsenal | November 2024

Pedro Neto is the incumbent Chelsea No.7 and we have selected his stunning strike against Arsenal just over a year ago as his best effort yet in a Blues shirt.

The winger drilled the ball into the corner from distance to earn us a point against our London rivals at Stamford Bridge.
