The countdown to Christmas is on and every day across the Chelsea Official App and Website, we are bringing you exclusive Blues content! Today, we take a look back at six special goals from our No.20, Sam Kerr.

Several great strikers have called Chelsea home across our 120-year history. Sam Kerr is firmly among them. She has lifted a dozen trophies during her time as a Blue and scored 104 goals in just 142 appearances.

Some of those have decided the fate of Women's Super League titles, others have come in showpiece finals. Then there was goal number 100, which arrived on Kerr's return following more than 18 months on the sidelines due to a knee ligament injury.

Here, we take a look back over six standout Kerr goals, the first of which came on the biggest stage in English football: Wembley.

Chelsea 3-0 Arsenal | FA Cup final | 5 December 2021

Kerr's first appearance in an FA Cup final was one to remember – and not just because it was played in December due to the Covid-19 pandemic causing all football to be paused earlier in the year.

Fran Kirby opened the scoring at Wembley before Kerr took centre stage with a second-half brace. Her second goal was a moment that left those watching in awe. And Kerr admitted her lofted effort over goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger even impressed her.

‘I knew I was levelling outside (Stephanie) Catley, and I knew if I took a big touch I’d be through on goal. I had so long to think about it, but I just remember hitting it and seeing it float over her head and thinking it was going to drop in.

‘You honestly dream about those goals. It was the first time after Covid that we’d played in front of such a big crowd. I would have done a backflip, but I was so tired!'

Chelsea 4-2 Manchester United | WSL | 8 May 2022

Chelsea needed to defeat Manchester United on the final day to secure a historic third consecutive Women's Super League title – and the Blues had to come from behind at Kingsmeadow to do it.

The visitors led 2-1 at the half-time interval, but a goal from Guro Reiten sandwiched between two stunning volleys from Kerr sealed our victory and ensured we lifted the WSL trophy once again.

Kerr's second of the game was Chelsea's fourth, and it was undoubtedly the pick of the bunch as she produced a dipping volley over Mary Earps that was fitting of the occasion.

‘It’s interesting because when you watch it back, you clearly see that I take a look, but I had no idea what was going through my head to try that,’ Kerr reflected two years later.

‘It was funny because the reason why I ran over to the bench to celebrate with Denise (Reddy) was because the day before I told her I was going to get the ball from our goalkeeper kicking it long, and I was going to hit it from distance.

‘It obviously wasn’t that, but I just talked myself into doing it! I wouldn’t normally try that. Guro got it from Mary (Earps) and once I got that ball off my chest, there was no other option.

‘It’s one of those that if you miss it, you look like a bit of an idiot. But, watching it back with the commentary, it was even better for me. I love watching goals like that so to score one was unbelievable.’

Chelsea 3-0 PSG | Champions League | 22 December 2022

Kerr has scored more important Chelsea goals, but this one has lived long in her memory simply because it was a sweetly struck effort from outside the box with her left foot.

‘I don’t score too many lefties!’ she explained. ‘I don’t know what I was thinking shooting that far out on my left foot, but the space just opened up and I could see that they were dropping off because I was on my left.

‘I thought I’d just have a crack and it sailed into the top corner. Once it came off my foot, I thought that’s going in because you know when you just hit it well. Coming off my left, it doesn’t normally go like that! I knew straight away. I really enjoyed that one!’

Chelsea 1-0 Aston Villa | WSL | 13 March 2022

The best strikers produced game-winning and title-altering moments. This goal against Aston Villa from Kerr was certainly one of those.

We needed to secure victory to stay in control of the WSL title race, but Villa had frustrated Emma Hayes' side at Kingsmeadow.

Kerr thought she had opened the scoring with eight minutes to play, but the goal was ruled out for offside. However, in stoppage time, Kerr latched on to a long pass from goalkeeper Zecira Musovic and found the net. The Blues would go on to claim the title, once more, on the final day.

'Millie (Bright) was up alongside me as the double-nine because we just had to go for it,’ explained Kerr. ‘Once the ball came down, I was like just touch it in the goal and don’t try to do anything special.

‘I think it was Hannah (Hampton) in the goal, which is funny to think now. It was just the moment and everything that was riding on it. That goal is one of my best memories ever.’

Chelsea 4-1 Paris FC | Champions League | 23 November 2023

Stamford Bridge was the venue for Kerr's first Champions League hat-trick, which helped us record a comprehensive victory over Paris FC.

The Blues No.20 opened the scoring on the half-hour mark, before adding two more in the 48th and 55th minutes. And it was the final goal of the three that is one of Kerr's favourites.

'I definitely saw the keeper coming out of her box and thought she could come and get it,’ she said. ‘It kind of felt like it was going to get away from me because it was a bit dewy that night. When I saw the goalkeeper, I knew I had to put it high and over her.

‘That was a nice one. It was my first hat-trick in the Champions League, so it was really nice.’

Aston Villa 1-3 Chelsea | WSL | 14 September 2025

A scruffy goal, yet one that meant so much to our Australian striker. Not only did it bring up 100 for the Blues for Kerr, but it came on her return to action after more than 600 days on the sidelines due to a knee ligament injury.

With the Blues leading 2-1 at Villa Park, Kerr was introduced with 15 minutes to play. Her landmark goal arrived in stoppage time as she reacted quickest to guide a shot into the net from close range after Aston Villa had failed to clear a Chelsea corner.

The Australian international was instantly mobbed by her Blues team-mates – and, after victory had been secured, the smile across Kerr's face told its own story.

‘It means everything,’ said Kerr. ‘To score 100 goals for any club is amazing, but to do it for a club like Chelsea is incredible. It’s something I'm really proud of and I don't take it lightly.

‘I know people may think scoring 100 goals is just another thing, but for me, it’s an amazing achievement and something I'll look back on for the rest of my life,' she explained.

‘I'm a goalscorer, that's what I love doing, and those 100 goals represent a lot of hard work, dedication and sacrifices to get there.’
