The Chelsea Foundation’s Chelsea Champion team have launched a social media campaign to help students and staff with their mental health during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Chelsea Champion team have put together an April motivation calendar which provides daily challenges posted on our Foundation Twitter to help students and staff keep their minds and bodies happy, healthy and ready to learn.
During this time, people have been asked to follow government guidelines and stay home to help beat the virus and so it can be easy to fall into a negative mind-set.
The social media campaign was launched to encourage people to do all they can to take positives from this situation and it was Chelsea Champion Jonathan Reid who came up with the idea.
Jonathan, who is based full-time in Pimlico Academy, said: ‘I feel as if the calendar has been a success and it seems like it has been received really well.
‘I spent some time creating it while listening to some music and just being in a peaceful and relaxed mind-set.
‘Motivating individuals is something myself and the Foundation are passionate about and during this difficult time, we all need a little bit of motivation, laughter and cheer.
‘I’m happy that this calendar has been able to do a little bit of that for many people.’
The Foundation’s Chelsea Champions programme, which was recently shortlisted for The Impact of Elite Sport Award at the London Sport Awards 2020, has been running in five schools for two years.
The initiative involves a full-time member of staff from the Chelsea Foundation based in the school where they provide sessions tailored to support mental health, wellbeing and resilience.
Senior Chelsea Champion officer Georgia Kouppas said: ‘Very rarely are we given the gift of time and so we want to provide individuals with the opportunity to utilise this time effectively to help support personal growth.
‘We hope that everyone is enjoying watching our daily videos as much as we are making them!’
