Chelsea have been handed an away trip to Lincoln City in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The full draw for the third round took place this evening after League Two Grimsby Town claimed a famous penalty shootout victory to eliminate Manchester United.

Chelsea and the eight other Premier League clubs competing in the three UEFA European competitions enter this season's Carabao Cup at the third-round stage – and the Blues will begin our quest for silverware on the road against League One side Lincoln.

The Blues have faced the Imps on eight occasions, with the last meeting between the two clubs taking place all the way back in 1911.

Lincoln, coached by Michael Skubala, have made a good start to their League One campaign, with ten points secured from their opening five matches. They have also defeated Harrogate Town and Burton Albion to reach round three in the Carabao Cup.

Ties in the Carabao Cup third round will be split across two midweeks due to clubs participating in the Champions League and Europa League.

The first set of matches will be played across the week commencing 15 September. The second will be held in the week commencing 22 September.

There are no replays in the Carabao Cup, and extra-time is not used until the semi-final stage. So, if the game ends as a draw, the winner is decided by penalties.

Full fixture and ticket information will follow in due course.
