Chelsea's bid to retain the Women's League Cup will begin with an away trip to Liverpool in the quarter-finals.

Sonia Bompastor's side lifted the trophy last season, defeating Manchester City in the final at Pride Park. It became the first piece of silverware in an impressive domestic Treble.

Following the group stage of the competition, which was completed earlier this week, the draw for the first knockout stage was made this evening. The Blues have been pitted against Liverpool, who we recently drew with in the Women's Super League.

The quarter-final fixtures will take place on either December 20 or 21, with all matches played to their conclusion – including 30 minutes of extra time and penalties if required.

If the Blues progress from our last-eight encounter, we will travel to either West Ham United or Manchester City in the semi-finals, which will be played over January 21 and 22.

Full ticket information will follow in due course.
