There is Chelsea representation in the England squad for the upcoming European Under-21 Championship, following the news that Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke have both been selected.
The tournament, which is being held in Georgia and Romania, takes place between 21 June and 8 July. England’s first group game is against Czech Republic on 22 June, with matches versus Israel on 25 June and Germany on 28 June to follow.
Madueke and Colwill, the latter who trained with the senior England squad this week, have both made the final squad but there is no place for Lewis Hall, despite the teenager part of the original provisional squad and playing in his first Under-21 international match at the weekend when he came on against Japan in a behind-closed-doors match at St George’s Park.
Despite Hall missing out, Colwill and Madueke are included having played regularly in the the qualification campaign – Levi twice and Noni three times.
England’s Young Lions side is coached by former Derby and Everton player Lee Carsley with Ashley Cole his assistant.
Also expected to be involved in the tournament is Ian Maatsen, who is in the Netherlands’ provisional squad. The Dutch face Belgium on the opening day and then Portugal on 24 June and joint-hosts Georgia on 27 June.
