Chelsea Under-21s forward Shumaira Mheuka and midfielder Reggie Walsh have both been named on the shortlist for January’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

The 2025/26 season has already proved impressive for Blues striker Mheuka. Since the start of the campaign, he has made 18 appearances, scoring 19 goals across all competitions for the Under-21s. In Premier League 2 action last month, Mheuka found the net in three separate games.

He began the new year in outstanding fashion, scoring a hat-trick in Chelsea’s 4-1 London derby victory over Crystal Palace. The forward also netted in the 2-1 win over Leicester City, before adding another goal in the 4-2 victory against Southampton at Kingsmeadow.

Chelsea also have a second Under-21s nominee in midfielder Walsh. The 17-year-old has made 18 appearances across all Under-21s competitions, recording three goals and leading the side for assists with six.

Walsh produced a standout performance in the Premier League 2 victory over Crystal Palace, providing three assists in the 4-1 win. He was also on the score sheet in Chelsea’s 4–2 win over Southampton.

The impressive performances of Mheuka and Walsh have earned them nominations for January’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award, alongside Armin Pecsi, Kieran Morrison and Keyrol Figueroa (all Liverpool), Matty Warhurst (Manchester City), Tom Olyott (Fulham) and Emmanuel Osho (Reading).
