Lucky students from local schools and colleges and members of our Activate Seniors group came down to Kingsmeadow to watch the Danish team train.

With Kingsmeadow, the home of Chelsea Women, hosting the Denmark team during the Women's Euros, the Foundation took the opportunity to take individuals from Carshalton Boy’s College, St. John’s Church of England Primary School, St Mary’s University and two of our Activate Senior members to watch the Danish internationals train ahead of their opening Euros match.

The open training session gave the excited guests the opportunity to watch a full session which included warm-up drills and exercises, as well as mini matches with the full squad who were enthusiastically cheered on by the students. The guests were also able to ask questions to Chelsea Women’s striker Pernille Harder, who was back on familiar territory at the ground.

Harder answered questions around how preparation was going for the Euros and how it felt to be back at Kingsmeadow.

Sam Gaskin-Kemp, head of education and innovation at Chelsea Foundation, commented on the visit: ‘We are so delighted that we have been able to bring participants from across our Foundation programmes to this open training session today.  A mixture of boys and girls, both young and old, have really enjoyed watching the Danish Women’s team train.

‘It has been really positive to see these athletes in action, watching how they train and how skilled they are whilst promoting women’s football to a wide-ranging audience.’

Johnny, who is a member of our Activate Seniors and Walking Footballers groups, also commented on the event: 'It's been an amazing experience watching all these youngsters have their training session including our famous Chelsea player, Pernille Harder. I've always wanted to come to Kingsmeadow and I haven't been able to make it but I'm hoping to come back again this season.'

Fellow Activate Senior member and Women's season ticket holder Dave added: 'I'm Chelsea Dave and I've been attending matches for 78 years! Today has been something really different and I've enjoyed it immensely and I'd like to come to a session again.'

A huge thank you to the Danish Football Association for hosting the Foundation.
