Chelsea FC Foundation recently welcomed the latest cohort of students enrolled in the Coaching and Development Degree programme at St. Mary’s University Twickenham for an engaging induction morning at Stamford Bridge.

The day kicked off with an inspiring address from Laura Cordingley, CEO of the Chelsea Foundation which partners with the university in offering the degree. Speaking to the new students, she emphasised the significance of this educational journey within the realm of sports, highlighting the exceptional opportunities this partnership presents for students aspiring to build a career in the sports industry.

Following her welcome, students had the chance to learn from a diverse panel featuring both alumni and current professionals from Chelsea Football Club. The panel included Alex Daveney, YDP performance and insight analyst, Victor Odeyemi, senior schools education officer, Toby Sims, a graduate from the class of 2025, and Dean Steninger, head of Chelsea Women’s Academy. Each panellist shared their unique career paths and experiences, which led to an interactive Q&A session.

After the insightful discussions, the students enjoyed a guided tour of Stamford Bridge, further immersing themselves in the rich history and culture of Chelsea FC.

Commenting on the morning, Cordingley said: ‘This has highlighted the programme's significance in supporting young people's futures and that was echoed by the panellists we heard from.

‘The Programme not only marks the next step in their academic journey, but it also shapes a path for them in sport. At the Chelsea FC Foundation, we believe in empowering young people through education to support them and foster the next generation of leaders in this industry.

‘This Coaching and Development Degree programme is more than just a pathway to a career; it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of those that they will inspire.’
