We round up the main action for our players out on loan in the past week…

Ian Maatsen and Burnley remain top of the Championship table despite a 5-2 thumping at Sheffield United on Saturday. They had dramatically come from behind to beat Rotherham in midweek, winning 3-2 courtesy of two stoppage-time goals. The Dutchman played the full 90 in both games.

Nathan Baxter also played twice last week as Hull lost 3-1 at home to Middlesbrough and then battled to a goalless draw at Millwall on Saturday having spent the best part of an hour a man light. Baxter produced excellent second-half saves to deny Mason Bennett and Scott Malone and preserve a point for the Tigers.

Like Hull, Stoke City are just outside the relegation places in a typically tight Championship, and they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at home to Birmingham this weekend in which Dujon Sterling played an hour, leaving the pitch with his side a goal down.

Baba Rahman has now started four games in a row now for Reading at left wing-back, and most recently the Royals earned a decent point at Luton, in a goalless draw, before losing 2-1 at home to Preston North End. They are firmly midtable.

For clubs in Leagues One and Two, the FA Cup took centre stage this weekend. Peterborough, with Lucas Bergstrom in goal, drew 0-0 at home to Salford, while an MK Dons side featuring Henry Lawrence thrashed Taunton Town 6-0. Lawrence supplied the assist for the fifth goal.

Overseas, Callum Hudson-Odoi started for Bayer Leverkusen as they got the point they needed against Bruges to secure third place in Champions League Group B, and with it qualification for the Europa League knockout stages. They have drawn Monaco in the play-offs.

Hudson-Odoi then came off the bench late on in Bayer’s 5-0 thrashing of top-of-the-Bundesliga-table Union Berlin.

Ethan Ampadu, on the right side of Spezia’s back three, played throughout their narrow loss away to AC Milan. Olivier Giroud’s spectacular volley won it for the hosts in the 89th minute.
