There will be several Chelsea players in action during the forthcoming international break in October.

After winning the Women's European Championship in the summer, England will play two friendly fixtures as part of their 'Homecoming Series'. Etihad Stadium in Manchester will provide the venue for the first of a double-header in October, when Sarina Wiegman's side will face Brazil, while the Lionesses will play their second match of the break against Australia at Derby County's Pride Park.

Elsewhere, Germany will play France and Switzerland will take on Spain over two legs in their UEFA Nations League semi-finals on 24 and 28 October.

England

Five Blues have been called up by England boss Wiegman for two October international matches that will see the Lionesses return to play on home soil for the first time since winning the European Championship in the summer.

Aggie Beever-Jones, Lucy Bronze, Niamh Charles, Hannah Hampton and Keira Walsh have all been called up, with Lauren James still working her way back to fitness and Millie Bright announcing her international retirement earlier this week.

Australia

Sam Kerr has been called up by Australia for the first time since November 2023, after she returned to action for Chelsea in September.

The striker came on as a substitute in our 3-1 win over Aston Villa, scoring her 100th goal for the Blues in the process, and also found the net in the Champions League last night against Paris FC.

She will be joined by Ellie Carpenter, who has also made the squad selected by boss Joe Montemurro.

The Blues duo could potentially come up against their Chelsea team-mates when Australia play England in a friendly at Derby's Pride Park on 28 October.

France

Sandy Baltimore and Oriane Jean-Francois have been selected for France for the UEFA Nations League semi-final matches against Germany.

There, they may come up against Chelsea team-mate Sjoeke Nusken as the sides battle it out for a place in the final, which is due to be played in the next international break at the end of November.

Germany have the upper hand in terms of their recent head-to-head record with Les Bleues, having beaten their European rivals on penalties in the quarter-final of Women's Euro 2025.

After making it through to the final stage of the Women's Nations League, Germany face France over two legs in the semi-final of the competition this month.

Japan

Maika Hamano has been called up for Japan, as they play two friendlies during the October international break.

The first will see the side travel to Como to face Italy, and the second could see Hamano face team-mate Guro Reiten when they take on Norway in their second international fixture of the month.

Melissa Andreatta's side return to action this October, having missed out on the Women's European Championship in the summer.

Sweden

After suffering a painful defeat to England on penalties at Euro 2025, Sweden have once again put themselves in a position to compete for silverware. They will face Spain over two legs in the Women's Nations League semi-final, and will face one of Germany or France should they make it through.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Nathalie Bjorn have once again been called up to the squad and will compete for the first time under the stewardship of new manager Tony Gustavsson.

Blues forwards Catarina Macario and Alyssa Thompson have both been called up for the USA by former Blues boss Emma Hayes.
