Following the release of our new home shirt, we asked Blues defender Levi Colwill to reflect on the significance of the different Chelsea kits he has worn in recent years.

Our Academy graduate is one of several Blues stars who modelled the new kit for its launch, with the eye-catching design featuring a refreshed club crest. It is available to buy now.

Colwill has been at Chelsea all his life, and has turned out for the Blues at senior and Academy level in a wide range of shirts.

Here, in his own words, he casts his eyes over the kits he has worn in the past few years, during which he has become a staple in our defence…

2019/20

This kit was a memorable one for me because it is the kit that I played my first FA Youth Cup game in, if I remember correctly. I remember posting it and everyone loved the picture. It did me loads of favours!

2020/21

I remember this one well. That's when I made my debut for the Under-23s after coming back from a meniscus injury. I came back completely different, much bigger, like a man. So, the kit was really tight on me when I put it on! But I had a really good season, I enjoyed that one.

2021/22

I trained with the first team a few times at the end of this season [after a loan spell at Huddersfield Town]. I didn’t play, but I had one of these shirts with my name and number printed out at the end of the season while I was training with them.

2022/23

So, I spent pre-season with the first team in America. It was my first tour, which was a good experience. But I didn’t wear this one too much as I went out on loan [to Brighton and Hove Albion].

2023/24

This is a memorable one. It’s the shirt that I wore on my debut, against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. Obviously, it was a surreal moment. You work all your life to have a half a chance to try and make your debut for Chelsea, and I was lucky enough. I thought that kit was banging, I really liked it. It was clean and one very close to my heart. It’s also the kit that I captained Chelsea in for the first time [away at Manchester United].

2024/25

This kit was everything to me. It's the season that I’d say I really put my foot down and stamped my authority in the team. I enjoyed playing every game in this kit and we obviously had a good season winning the Conference League and qualifying for the Champions League. So, good memories in this one.

2025/26

For me, this is the best Chelsea kit I’ve worn so far. It’s what we won the Club World Cup wearing and I’ve got a few of those shirts at home ready to put into frames. Of course, it wasn’t a kit I wore as much as I wanted but it’s one that I’ll always remember. That Club World Cup win will always be huge.
