Trevoh Chalobah has worn the Chelsea shirt with pride for much of his life, having developed in our Academy and established himself as an important member of the senior squad.
With that in mind, we asked the defender for his memories of wearing different Chelsea kits in the week our new home strip was revealed, and which you can get your hands on now.
Trevoh says he keeps at least one or two shirts from each season for his collection, and recently framed his Club World Cup shirt from last summer’s triumph over Paris Saint-Germain.
Trevoh starts his reflections by rewinding almost a decade to 2017, and an evening when he made quite the impression on and off the pitch for our Under-18s…
2016/17
This day was the Youth Cup final, and I scored against Man City. I remember this kit, the Yokohama Tyres sponsor. This was a good moment, we ended up winning this game and the trophy so it was special.
The FA Youth Cup was very important for us as an Academy. We won a lot of trophies, and the FA Youth Cup was one of them. It was like our mini FA Cup, so it meant a lot to the Academy and to the players. Every time we did win that, it was something special.
This was also literally the day when Antonio Conte was watching me dancing in the dressing room after and I didn’t know about it. Everyone’s always showing me that and every time I see it, I just laugh!
2017/18
Being in the squad for the FA Cup final just gave me the feeling of what it feels like and what it can feel like being in the first team and being there regularly.
It was a nice feeling putting on the kit in that stadium, and just being able to warm up on the pitch was something special. It was a really exciting day.
2021/22
I had been on loan in France [at Lorient] coming into that season. After the Euros, a lot of the first-team players had time off, so they had to call up a lot of the loan players.
I just saw it as an opportunity to gain fitness for whatever was going to happen that season. I didn’t really have it in my head that I would be playing for Chelsea; I was thinking probably another loan.
I just wanted to leave an impression on the manager at the time, which was [Thomas] Tuchel. I ended up doing well that pre-season and playing in the Super Cup final, my debut.
This moment was my first Champions League start and a goal against Juventus, another special moment to add to the memories.
It was surreal coming through into the team, it’s what I always wanted: to wear the shirt regularly, to be around the first team, to be a first team player. I was just embracing the moment and all my prayers and hard work came true.
I liked this one, with the yellow stripe on it. Something a bit different. It was nice to have the Champions League winners badge, also!
2022/23
I remember wearing this kit. The colour was nice, to be fair. I liked it. It was decent.
This was probably one of the hardest seasons we've had in terms of the whole year. It was a very difficult moment, and you need to go through moments like this to learn and to grow.
This is where you grow as a team, as a club. These moments shape the future. We managed to stick together and pull through.
2023/24
I liked this kit. Obviously, scoring the goal against Tottenham was always nice for me. It was a good season for me. The start wasn’t my best; I was out with injuries and came back strong. We ended up finishing well and managed to get European football, which we hadn’t had that season.
I learned a lot not just about football but about myself and how grounded I was in my faith, and that helped me to get through the injury.
It makes you not taking being fit for granted, and helps you stay healthy and look after your body more, your mind and other stuff. There’s more to life than football. That period made me realise I had my family, my friends and my faith to help me. It helped me heal faster and I came back better and stronger.
2024/25
It was a special season. No matter what the trophy is, you always want to win something, and for us, that was our goal to obviously get some silver with it. We managed to do that, which is what the club deserves.
Securing Champions League football in the last game was a good memory, too, and celebrating with the fans. And then a few days later, winning another final. It was a good end to the season.
I liked this kit as well. I liked the different light, squirrely patterns that were on it. It was nice.
2025/26
The Club World Cup was a good tournament, if difficult. In terms of fatigue, we were tired coming straight from a busy season, but it was different and a good experience.
Playing good teams and getting to the final was something big, then playing arguably the best team in Europe and winning 3-0 was special. Another trophy to add to the cabinet.
The boys were amazing. It was a good experience for not just me, but also my family.
2026/27
We know what we're capable of, but for us it’s about resetting, coming together as players, taking responsibility, being on the same page and having that one goal.
We are going to come back ready for next season. I know the boys are hungry and want to make things right, not just for us but for the club and for the fans.
