Six more big names from the Blues’ past, Katie Chapman, Joe Cole, Carlo Cudicini, Gemma Davison, William Gallas and Ramires, have joined a team already containing Eden Hazard and John Terry for a big occasion at Stamford Bridge next month when old rivalries will be reignited.
The Super Six have signed up to play for a Chelsea Legends side steered by Champions League-winning manager Roberto Di Matteo when they take on Liverpool Legends at Stamford Bridge on Saturday 11 October at 3pm.
Dynamic midfielder Ramires (pictured above in a Legends game at Anfield last season) was part of that same European title-winning campaign as Di Matteo in 2011/12, while Cole was one of the great entertainers in the back-to-back Premier League champions side when he had the super-versatile Gallas behind him in our tightest-ever defence. Cudicini is one of only five goalkeepers to have won the Chelsea Player of the Season award.
Chapman was Chelsea Women Player of the Season in 2016 and captained the side to the earliest major trophy victories. Davison was an outstanding attacker in two league title wins.
Chelsea Legends vs Liverpool Legends will be raising funds for the Chelsea Foundation and the Chelsea Players’ Trust, which supports the welfare of those who made the club what it is today.
