Chelsea Legends lining up

Forming part of the club’s 120th anniversary celebrations, the match will see a host of Chelsea Legends returning to Stamford Bridge, including our 2012 UEFA Champions League-winning manager and captain, Roberto Di Matteo and John Terry, plus with the latest addition to the squad, four-time Chelsea Player of the Season Eden Hazard.

Di Matteo said: ‘I am delighted to be managing the Chelsea FC Legends team once again. We will be aiming to avenge the defeat at Anfield in March, putting on a fantastic occasion for our supporters and raising vital funds for the Chelsea FC Foundation and the Chelsea Players’ Trust.’

Terry added: ‘Chelsea versus Liverpool provided me with some of the most highly contested battles throughout my career and I am excited to be reigniting those old rivalries for charity in October. As captain of the club for over 15 years, the Chelsea FC Foundation and the Chelsea Players’ Trust are both close to my heart.’

Throughout our 120-year history, Chelsea have come up against Liverpool in some of the club’s most historic contests, including victory for the Blues in the 2012 FA Cup final, multiple Champions League battles, and a notable win for Chelsea on the final day of the 2002/03 Premier League season.

Laura Cordingley, chief executive of the Chelsea FC Foundation, said: ‘We are extremely excited to be hosting this Legends match at Stamford Bridge as part of the club’s 120th anniversary.

‘This will be a special celebration of the club’s history while supporting the work of the Chelsea FC Foundation and the Chelsea Players’ Trust. Funds raised from the match will be crucial in enabling us to continue our work positively impacting our communities and supporting the welfare of Chelsea FC’s former players.’
