Chelsea's players out on loan continued their development across Europe and the English football pyramid during October, with several making important contributions for their temporary clubs.

We take a look at how the Blues' loanees performed during the month, with Dario Essugo, Harrison Murray-Campbell and Ishe Samuels-Smith among those catching the eye.

Dario Essugo, Genesis Antwi and Filip Jorgensen – Strasbourg

Dario Essugo started each of Strasbourg’s three games in October, deployed in the centre of the Ligue 1 side’s midfield.

He scored the opening goal, his first for the club, in Strasbourg’s 2-1 defeat to Nice, while also playing the full 90 minutes against European champions Paris Saint-Germain. Genesis Antwi and Filip Jorgensen continue to provide a strong contribution with both also starting all three games.

Ishe Samuels-Smith – Notts County

Samuels-Smith continued his impressive development at Notts County, featuring in five matches across League One and the EFL Trophy.

He completed the full 90 minutes in four of those appearances, including the victories over Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest’s Under-21s, and demonstrated his versatility by featuring at centre-back and on the left of midfield.

Harrison Murray-Campbell – RC Kortrijk

Murray-Campbell (pictured top) remains an important member of RC Kortrijk’s defence in his first loan spell in senior football.

The 20-year-old played in the games against Genk and Standard Liege, with Kortrijk earning a hard-fought point away from home in the latter.

Jesse Derry – Sporting Lisbon

October saw Derry make his debut appearance in the UEFA Champions League during the Portuguese side's 2-0 win away to Lens.

The winger provided an assist for Sporting Lisbon in their 2-1 victory over Maritimo in the quarter-finals of the Portuguese League Cup.

Kaiden Wilson – Rochdale

Wilson has been an ever-present for Rochdale this season, with the highlight of his October a clean sheet kept in a battling 1-0 success over Swindon Town at the start of the month.

Ryan Kavuma-McQueen – Portsmouth

Seventeen-year-old Kavuma-McQueen enjoyed another productive month with Portsmouth, featuring in six Championship fixtures during October.

The young winger made his presence felt particularly in the 3-2 victory over Sheffield United, claiming an assist as Pompey secured an important three points.

Reggie Walsh – Wigan Athletic

Walsh continues to gain valuable senior experience at Wigan Athletic, featuring in all six of the League One side's October fixtures. He provided an assist in their game against Huddersfield and started both the Latics’ victories during the month, against Reading and Barrow.

Landon Emenalo and Shumaira Mhueka – Celtic

Emenalo made his senior debut in October as Celtic beat Hearts 7-1. He followed that up by featuring in the draw with Dundee United. Mhueka was also involved in all three Scottish Premiership fixtures.

Dastan Satpayev – Burnley

Satpayev returned to action during October following an injury that restricted his involvement in September. The 18-year-old made three appearances for Burnley, taking his total to seven since joining the Championship club on loan.

Mamadou Sarr – Real Sociedad

It was an excellent month for Sarr and Real Sociedad. The defender started each of their six fixtures, with four of those won, including three in La Liga.

Those victories have seen them rise to fifth in the table. They also picked up their maiden Europa League victory of the campaign, thrashing Lillestrom 6-0 away from home.

Axel Disasi – Crystal Palace

Having returned from suspension, Disasi started Palace’s Premier League games against Newcastle and Tottenham towards the end of the month. He also played the full 90 minutes in the Eagles’ Europa League fixtures away to Lyon and Besiktas.

Benoit Badiashile – Napoli

Badiashile started four matches for Napoli in the heart of defence, including a Champions League defeat at Villarreal and a thrilling 3-3 draw with Roma. Unfortunately, an injury sustained in that game has ruled him out of Napoli’s past two fixtures.

Robert Sanchez – Como

Sanchez played twice for Como, starting their Champions League defeat to Feyenoord and 3-1 Serie A victory over Torino.

Alejandro Garnacho – Aston Villa

Garnacho saw more involvement for Villa in October, coming off the bench in four games including the Champions League successes at home to Fenerbahce and Viking Stavanger.

Ollie Harrison and Dujuan Richards – AFC Wimbledon

Harrison has firmly established himself in Wimbledon’s midfield, starting six of their seven appearances in a busy October. He accumulated more than 300 minutes of football in the process.

Richards, meanwhile, is currently sidelined through injury.

Kiano Dyer – Chesterfield

Kiano Dyer continues to feature regularly for Chesterfield in League Two. He made five appearances for the Spireites, who are currently positioned in tenth place.

Ted Curd – Boreham Wood

It was a flawless October for Boreham Wood and Curd, who came into the team at the start of the month.

He subsequently played each of their five National League games - all of which were won – and kept two clean sheets in the process. They are already 12 points clear at the top of the table.

Max Merrick – Hartlepool

Merrick was in the opposition goal as Boreham Wood won a dramatic game against Hartlepool 4-3 this past weekend. It was the young keeper’s second appearance of the month, following a 2-1 success against Hornchurch.

Hudson Sands — Dulwich Hamlet

Sands continues to feature regularly between the posts for Dulwich in the Isthmian Premier League, making four appearances as the south London side sit just outside the play-off positions.
