With European leagues and competitions now concluded, we bring you the final loan round-up of the 2024/25 campaign with the focus on May…
Djordje Petrovic and Andrey Santos – Strasbourg
Petrovic and Santos helped Strasbourg finish in seventh place in Ligue 1, securing Conference League football for next season.
They beat PSG 2-1 in May while Santos netted his tenth goal of the campaign in the 3-2 home defeat to Le Havre on the final day. Petrovic was voted Strasbourg’s Player of the Year.
Renato Veiga – Juventus
The Portuguese played the full 90 minutes in central defence in each of Juventus’ final four games of the season, as they held on to fourth place in Serie A to secure Champions League football for 2025/26.
Carney Chukwuemeka – Borussia Dortmund
Chukwuemeka came off the bench in Dortmund’s resounding wins over Wolfsburg and Holstein Kiel, which played an important role in the Bundesliga giants qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Joao Felix – AC Milan
The Portugal international scored in AC Milan’s final two games of the season, a loss away to Roma and a victory against Monza.
They were his first Serie A goals for the club. The attacker also came off the bench in the Italian Cup final won by Bologna.
Raheem Sterling – Arsenal
Sterling got Premier League minutes for Arsenal against Bournemouth and Southampton in May. He was unused in the Gunners’ Champions League defeat to PSG.
Kepa Arrizabalaga – Bournemouth
Kepa was ever present for Bournemouth in May, including in an away win at Arsenal, as the Cherries finished another excellent campaign in ninth position.
Ben Chilwell – Crystal Palace
The left-back scored his first goal for Crystal Palace via a deflected free-kick in a 4-2 home victory against Wolves three days after he had been an unused substitute in the Eagles’ FA Cup triumph over Manchester City at Wembley.
Lesley Ugochukwu – Southampton
Playing in central midfield, Ugochukwu started three of Southampton’s four games in May, notably the goalless draw with Manchester City that ensured they did not finish the season with the joint-lowest Premier League points total.
Alfie Gilchrist – Sheffield United
Gilchrist played an hour of Sheffield United’s final regular league fixture, a 1-1 draw with Blackburn. The defender did not feature in the Blades’ ultimately unsuccessful play-off campaign.
Zak Sturge – Millwall
The youngster finished the season in Millwall’s defence as they made a late bid for the Championship play-offs, narrowly missing out after a final-day defeat at promoted Burnley.
Alex Matos – Oxford United
Matos played the full 90 minutes of Oxford’s 3-3 draw on the final day of the Championship, that result leaving the Yellows in 17th place.
Caleb Wiley – Watford
Wiley started Watford’s final eight games, including the draw with Sheffield Wednesday at the start of May that brought their season to a close.
Teddy Sharman-Lowe – Doncaster Rovers
The young goalkeeper continued his record of playing every minute of Doncaster Rovers’ League Two campaign as they defeated Notts County 2-1 on the final day to secure the title.
Jimmy-Jay Morgan – Gillingham
The young attacker started Gillingham’s surprise 1-0 victory at Port Vale on the final day, finishing his time in Kent with two goals in 16 League Two appearances.
Deivid Washington – Santos
The young striker played in all six of Santos’ games in May after scoring his first goal of this loan move at the end of April, although they are struggling near the foot of the table after winning just two of their opening ten league fixtures.
