The 240-mile journey to Burnley is one of the longest Chelsea supporters can make during a domestic season. Yet the trek to Turf Moor has become one of the most rewarding for the Blues in the Premier League.
Before the turn of the millennium, our away record against Burnley made for grim reading: eight wins in 41 visits to their venerable Lancashire ground.
However, since the Clarets made their first appearance in the Premier League in the 2009/10 season, we have been almost flawless at Turf Moor, with eight wins and a draw in nine league meetings.
And our dominance of the fixture has become even more pronounced in recent years; Saturday’s 4-1 thumping made it six straight wins there for the Blues with 19 goals plundered on our last five visits.
5 March, 2022 | 4-0
Prior to Saturday's victory, Chelsea had not scored four goals in a league match since a 6-0 demolition of Southampton in April 2022, which was a month after another big away day at Turf Moor.
The Blues cut loose with three goals in 10 minutes after the interval. Reece James got things rolling with a magnificent strike in the 47th minute as he dazzled the Burnley defence with some deft footwork on the right of the box before drilling a tight-angled shot past Nick Pope into the far corner.
Our club captain also got the assist for our third in the 55th minute when his low cross was turned in by Kai Havertz for his second of the game, shortly after the German had headed in a cross by Christian Pulisic
The American would go on to complete the scoring with 21 minutes remaining after pouncing on a loose ball in the box.
31 October 2020 | 3-0
The only occasion we have not scored four goals in our last five visits to Turf Moor was during the 2020/21 season. We managed three that day and still won handsomely.
Hakim Ziyech was teed up by Tammy Abraham to fire home his first Chelsea goal after 26 minutes, and the visitors put the game to bed after the interval. Kurt Zouma powered home a header after 63 minutes before Timo Werner was later sent clear by Ziyech to round off a 3-0 win.
26 October 2019 | 4-2
After being eased into life at Stamford Bridge by Frank Lampard, Pulisic came good in a big way with a perfect hat-trick at Turf Moor.
He became the first American to score for Chelsea in the Premier League when he rounded off a fine solo goal with a clinical left-footed strike midway through the first half, and then added his second just before half-time with a low right-footed shot.
Pulisic completed his treble by directing in a backward header after 56 minutes and Willian scored from an acute angle to make it four before the hosts narrowed the deficit with a pair of late consolation goals.
28 October 2018 | 4-0
Four different players scored for Chelsea when we recorded our first 4-0 victory over the Clarets at Turf Moor five years ago.
Ross Barkley set up the opener for Alvaro Morata after 22 minutes and the England midfielder then made it 2-0 after the interval when his left-footed effort from 25 yards found the bottom corner.
A low curler by Willian extended our advantage before Ruben Loftus-Cheek got our fourth with a close-range finish in stoppage time.
