The Blues have been at our Dublin training base for the past five days and were boosted on Monday by the return of 13 new arrivals, including David Luiz and N’Golo Kante. The group have been hard at work and will now take on local side Bohemians in their first run-out of the month.

When is the game?

The first friendly of our 2019/20 pre-season campaign takes place today (Wednesday). Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Who are we playing?

We take on Bohemians, the side currently third in the League of Ireland Premier Division, which runs from February to October. The Bohs played out a goalless draw at Cork City in their most recent league outing.

Where is it being held?

The game takes place at the 4,200-capacity Dalymount Park, north of the River Liffey in Dublin. Formerly home of the Irish national team, the stadium was partially reconstructed in the 1930s by Archibald Leitch, the same Scottish architect who designed the original Stamford Bridge which was opened in 1905. It has played host to a number of famous internationals and FAI Cup finals over the years.

Squad news

Despite the arrival of over a dozen new faces this week, it is expected that those involved will be from the group that travelled to Dublin on Friday. That means there will be opportunities for the younger squad members and returning loanees to impress Lampard and his new coaching team, including the likes of Kurt Zouma, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Billy Gilmour and Academy Player of the Year Conor Gallagher.

Among the more established names set to feature are Willy Caballero, Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro. With pre-season still very much in the early days, however, we can expect plenty of changes throughout the 90 minutes.
