Chelsea’s pre-season ahead of the 2026/27 campaign includes a match in Asia versus Juventus.

Our men’s team will play the Italian side as part of the Hong Kong Football Festival 2026 (HKFF 2026) on Wednesday 5 August at Kai Tak Stadium. The kick-off will be 7.30pm local time.

The Hong Kong date on the pre-season fixture list is both a chance for Chelsea supporters in that region to watch our players in action live, and an important step in the squad preparations for the new Premier League season which will start two weekends later.

Returning to Hong Kong

This summer’s visit comes 15 years after we last played in Hong Kong. That was in a Premier League Asia Cup tournament in 2011 when we beat local side Kitchee and Aston Villa.

The club’s first trip to that part of the world was over three decade ago. Just days after the 1994 FA Cup final, Glenn Hoddle’s side flew halfway around the globe for an exhibition match against a Hong Kong XI, and the journey was repeated after we had won the 1997 FA Cup final. On that occasion, a team managed by Ruud Gullit beat local club South China 3-2 and we went back two years later to defeat another Hong Kong side, Instant-Dict.

Our 2026 match there will be the first time we take on a side from one of the other major European leagues in Hong Kong.

The Blues vs Juve

Chelsea matches against Juventus have thrown up some memorable encounters. The most recent of our six Champions League meetings, in 2021, was a 4-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. Current Blues Trevoh Chalobah and Reece James were among the scorers.

Another standout moment against the 36-times Serie A winners was a group-stage draw in 2012 when Oscar scored with a brilliant turn and curling shot, one of two goals the Brazilian netted on what was his full debut.

Now the two clubs will share a pitch again but this time 6,000 miles from London, at the 50,000-seat, state-of-the-art Kai Tak Stadium which opened in 2025.
