The Premier League returns after a three-week absence when Chelsea host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, and we here take a look at all the vital facts and figures ahead of this weekend's fixture.
Chelsea head into the sixth round of matches of this Premier League season in tenth place in the table, eight points behind leaders Manchester City. Opponents Bournemouth are 17th with three points from three draws.
Head-to-head
Chelsea are unbeaten in our past nine Premier League games against Bournemouth (four wins, five draws), with each of the last three ending level. The run began with a 2-2 draw in February 2020.
The Cherries last beat us earlier that same season, when Dan Gosling scored a late winner at Stamford Bridge.
Last season’s corresponding fixture at the end of December finished 2-2, with our goals coming from Cole Palmer with a penalty and Enzo Fernandez.
The sides first met at Stamford Bridge in March 1989, when Chelsea won 2-0 through Gordon Durie's goal and a Graham Roberts penalty.

Chelsea stats
Chelsea’s eighth consecutive game in London since the season began will be followed next weekend by our first competitive match outside the capital since May, away to Everton on Merseyside.
Chelsea are looking for a Premier League victory for the first time since beating Brighton & Hove Albion on 30 August.
Following four consecutive home Premier League defeats between March and May, Chelsea are now unbeaten in three home matches in the competition (two wins, one draw).
Chelsea are the tenth team in Premier League history to both score and concede double figures in their first five matches of the season (10-12).
The average age of Chelsea's starting XI in the most recent game at Brentford was 27 years and 349 days. It is the oldest fielded in the Premier League by the Blues since May 2023, against Arsenal (28 years, 278 days).
Against Brentford, 35-year-old Danny Welbeck and 36-year-old Jordan Henderson were the oldest English players to start a Premier League game for Chelsea since a 36-year-old John Terry in May 2017 against Sunderland. Together with Emiliano Martinez, they make up three three of our top ten oldest Premier League debutants.
In the same game, Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli became the first player born in 2010 to play in the Premier League, while he was also the first 16-year-old to play for Chelsea in the competition. He is the ninth 16-year-old to play for Chelsea and fifth-youngest (16 years, 255 days), nine days after Reggie Watson became our fourth-youngest player, against Leeds United in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea’s first two Premier League home games of 2026/27 produced 11 goals (six scored, five conceded), our highest total across the opening two home league matches since 1997/98 (also 11). Only once before have we conceded five goals in our first two home league games without losing: 1932/33, when both matches were drawn and we scored and conceded six.
According to Premier League figures, Pedro Neto has recorded Chelsea’s highest speed this season, reaching 35.26 km/h against Brighton on 30 August. That ranks sixth-fastest in the division, while Liverpool’s Bradley Barcola leads overall at 35.93 km/h.
Milestones
Having played 101 games, Cole Palmer is one away from scoring 50 goals in the Premier League for the club. Only two players have reached a half century for the Blues in fewer appearances – Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (84) and Diego Costa (85).
If they play this weekend, Moises Caicedo (150 appearances) and Malo Gusto (100 starts) will hit milestones with the Blues.
In our last game at Brentford, Josh Acheampong made his 50th appearance for Chelsea and Wesley Fofana started his 50th Premier League game for the club.
