The form
Since the start of last season, Chelsea have won more games to nil than any other team in the WSL, with 16 clean sheets recorded during that time. A 1-0 win for the Blues is the most common scoreline during the competition in that same period, occurring in nine of those 16 occasions.
London City Lionesses have won three of their first six WSL games this season, as many as the newly promoted teams managed across the previous two campaigns combined. Crystal Palace managed just two wins last season, while Bristol City only recorded one victory in the whole of 2023/24.
Chelsea are unbeaten in each of our last 21 home London derbies in the WSL with a record of 18 wins and three draws since a 5-0 loss to Arsenal in October 2018, which is comfortably the longest ever run in such matches in the competition.
A newly-promoted club has only managed to win away at the reigning champions once in the Women’s Super League once in 13 attempts, when Sunderland beat Liverpool 2-1 in March 2015.
Recent head-to-head
Chelsea have never faced London City in league action before, and have only played them twice in total.
The first meeting between the sides in the Women's League Cup back in 2015 saw Chelsea run out as 6-0 winners at Wheatsheaf Park.
The second encounter came back in 2021, when goals from Niamh Charles, Jess Carter, Melanie Leupolz and a brace from Drew Spence helped us to a 5-0 win in FA Cup action at Kingsmeadow.
