Head-to-head
Manchester United are one of the 19 opponents Chelsea faced in our debut season in Division Two, 1905/06. Both matches between the sides ended as draws.
This is the 199th meeting between the two clubs in all competitions, and the Blues are looking to secure three consecutive top-flight victories over United for the first time since 2006.
That run 20 years ago was completed with a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge, which ensured the Blues claimed our second consecutive Premier League title.
Manchester United have won just one of their past 12 Premier League away games against Chelsea (five draws, six defeats.
This fixture is the most drawn in Premier League history, with 27 of the previous 67 meetings between the sides finishing level.
United are one of only two sides to have scored more than 300 goals against us in all competitions in our history (311). Arsenal (309) are the other.
We were defeated 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in September, following Robert Sanchez’s dismissal in the fifth minute for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro gave United a two-goal advantage, but in first-half stoppage time, Casemiro received his second yellow card and was sent off. Trevoh Chalobah scored with a header from a Reece James corner in the 80th minute to reduce the deficit.
That result means Man United are looking for a league double over the Blues for the first time since the 2019/20 campaign.
