Emma Hayes’ side will take on Lyon in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-finals after the draw was conducted at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday lunchtime.

The dates of the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final games are as follows:

  • Wednesday 22 March – Lyon v Chelsea – 5.45pm kick-off (UK time)

  • Thursday 30 March – Chelsea vs Lyon at Stamford Bridge – 8pm kick-off

The Blues progressed to the quarter-final stage of the competition as winners of Group A which consisted of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Albanian champions Vllaznia. We recorded five victories and one draw taking 16 points from 18 available during the group phase.

As group winners, we had three potential opponents ahead of the draw this afternoon with Lyon, Bayern Munich and Roma finishing runners-up in their respective groups. No winning team could face the runners-up from their own group, ruling out another meeting with PSG at this stage.

We were the second tie to be pulled from the pot and we have been pitted against holders and record eight-time champions Lyon, who were the runners-up in Group C during the group phase.

The full draw was:

Bayern Munich vs Arsenal
Lyon vs Chelsea
Roma vs Barcelona
Paris Saint-Germain vs Wolfsburg

Our previous meeting with Lyon came during the 2018/19 season, where we fell to a narrow 3-2 aggregate defeat at the semi-final stage.

In the event that we are successful at the quarter-final stage, the draw also indicated our potential semi-final opponents. We would face either Roma or Barcelona should we progress past Lyon across two legs in March.

We are delighted to have announced ticket details for our UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final second leg which will take place at Stamford Bridge.
