Voting for Chelsea Women's February Player of the Month could not have been closer, with just one per cent separating the top two!

It was a closely-run contest, with all five nominees split by only 18 per cent of the votes.

Sjoeke Nusken, who started in all three of our wins, received 11 per cent, while talented teen Veerle Buurman's excellent performances this month saw her pick up 14 per cent.

Naomi Girma continued to impress in the heart of defence and was third with 18 per cent, with Alyssa Thompson and Lauren James making up the top two.

Thompson has been in fine form during February, scoring in back-to-back Women's Super League fixtures against Man City and Spurs, before putting in a tenacious display in the win over Liverpool and impressing against Man United.

As for LJ, the England international enjoyed an extended run in the team, including playing in back-to-back 90 minutes in two crucial matches.

The winger produced a Player of the Match display against Liverpool after notching a goal and an assist by setting up Nusken for the opener, before helping us secure safe passage into the quarter-finals of the Women's FA Cup against Manchester United.

And it was LJ who edged the voting with 29 per cent, as Thompson just missed out (28 per cent).

Congratulations, LJ!
