Rising Ballers Women FC is a positive grassroots initiative which looks to help exceptionally talented female footballers get into a higher level of football. This season, they are seeking to mirror the success of their men’s team, who had five players signed to professional clubs in their inaugural season. The newly formed team will compete in a grassroots league in the London area.Prior to watching the open training session, the players were coached by Chelsea Foundation coaches, and former Chelsea legends Katie Chapman and Claire Rafferty hosted a Q&A to offer an insight into women’s professional football.Founder and director of Rising Ballers, Eni Shabani, commented on the day: ‘Visiting Cobham was an eye-opening experience for our girls, providing the much needed prep for the season ahead.‘Through training with Chelsea coaches, they got crucial insights into the training required to become a professional player’, he said.‘Through the media room experience that followed, they got to ask key questions to ex-professionals on the sacrifices required to make it to a top level.‘Seeing the Chelsea Women’s team play first-hand and meeting them left our girls feeling exceptionally inspired.’Chelsea Women’s league opener against Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 8 September is a sell-out, but we have opened a waiting list for fans to be informed if additional tickets become available.Add your details to the waitlist.
