Cuthbert, who has been at Chelsea for over 10 years, has taken the armband following the retirement of former skipper Millie Bright in April last year.

She will be supported by Nathalie Bjorn and Lucy Bronze, who have both been named as Chelsea vice-captains ahead of the first Women's Super League match of the season against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

Bjorn has made 56 appearances for Chelsea since joining the club midway through the 2023/24 campaign. An experienced and commanding central defender, the 29-year-old has also earned 82 senior caps for Sweden.

During her time at Chelsea, she has lifted two Women's Super League titles, one Women's FA Cup and two Women's League Cup trophies.

Bronze is one of the most experienced players in the women's game. The 34-year-old has lifted two Women's Euro trophies with England and made the World Cup final with the Lionesses in 2023. Having played for clubs at home and across Europe, Bronze joined Chelsea at the start of the domestic Treble-winning campaign of 2024/25 and has since made 58 appearances for the Blues.
