The form

Emma Hayes’ side go into Sunday’s fixture having comfortably beaten Everton midweek in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. Three first-half goals from Sam Kerr, Guro Reiten and Erin Cuthbert sealed victory for the Blues on Merseyside.

We have been on a fine run of form since Christmas, winning nine of our 12 games since January.

We beat Leicester City 7-0 in the fifth round, courtesy of goals from Pernille Harder, Ji So-Yun, Aniek Nouwen, Bethany England and Kerr.

Birmingham, meanwhile, go into Sunday’s game having lost four of their last five competitive games, most recently against West Ham last weekend. Carter’s side beat Durham in the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup with a late strike from Lucy Quinn to seal their spot in the quarter-final.

Chelsea Women vs Birmingham City recent head-to-head record

Sunday’s clash will be the second time we have played Birmingham this season. Our first meeting this campaign came in November as the Blues put five past Carter’s side in the WSL.

Kerr scored a hat-trick while Fran Kirby brought up a century of goals when we recorded a valiant victory against the Midlands team at Kingsmeadow earlier this season. We met Birmingham at this stage of the competition in last year's FA Cup, winning 4-0. We are due to meet Carter’s side in the reverse fixture in the WSL on Sunday 1 May.

Next up for the Blues

We play our sixth and penultimate game of March on Wednesday evening when we host Tottenham Hotspur in the WSL. Our clash against Spurs will kick off at 7.45pm and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.
