The form
Chelsea are yet to lose in this season's Champions League and have a 100 per cent record on home soil at Plough Lane. We opened our league phase campaign in west London with a 1-0 win over Austria Vienna, Wieke Kaptein getting the only goal of the game, before a goalless draw away at eight-time European champions Lyon last time out.
Our opponents, on the other hand, come to these shores looking for their first win of the league phase, although they have won three in a row domestically in Serie A. In Europe, Roma started with a 0-0 draw against Leuven away in Belgium, but were then humbled by a 6-0 home defeat to Barcelona.
Recent head-to-head
Chelsea are hosting Roma in the league phase of the Champions League for the second season in a row, although last term's meeting at Stamford Bridge was the first-ever between these two sides. On that occasion it was a one-sided affair, with Kaptein, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Sjoeke Nusken, Maika Hamano and Lucy Bronze all getting on the scoresheet, after an own goal had given us the lead, in a 6-0 victory for the Blues.
That was the only game Roma have ever played against English opposition, while Chelsea are unbeaten in five games against Italian teams, with fours wins and one draw, plus 15 goals scored to one against. We have never conceded at home to a Serie A side.
