There have been some historic matches between Chelsea Women and Manchester United Women since the Red Devils' reintroduction in 2018, and here we pick out the best moments from those clashes!
Sonia Bompastor's side take on Man Utd in the Women's FA Cup fifth round on Sunday in the final match before the international break, and will face the same opponent when we return to action in the Women's League Cup final at Ashton Gate on Sunday 15 March.
What better time, then, to look back on our previous important clashes with the red half of Manchester, which have produced some dramatic moments and brilliant strikes.
Man Utd 1-6 Chelsea (WSL) - 26 September 2021
Fran Kirby scored her 50th goal in the WSL as we put six goals past the Red Devils in what was an early statement win on the way to winning the league title at the end of that season.
Strikes from Pernille Harder, Drew Spence, Jessie Fleming and a brace from Sam Kerr added to Kirby's opener as we sealed the emphatic victory away from home.
Chelsea 4-2 Man Utd (WSL) - 8 May 2022
The Blues came from behind in this six-goal thriller on the final day of the 2021/22 campaign in what proved to be the title decider.
Emma Hayes' side sat just one point behind Arsenal going into the final game, and knew that a win would be enough to see us clinch the WSL title.
Chelsea went into the Kingsmeadow changing rooms 2-1 down at half-time, but a brace from Kerr and a Guro Reiten strike was enough to seal the victory, and the title.
Chelsea 1–0 Man United (Women's FA Cup final) - 14 May 2023
The Blues secured our third consecutive FA Cup trophy in front of a world record crowd at Wembley Stadium.
Leah Galton had the ball inside the net inside the opening minute but it was ruled out for offside and then a perfect low cross from Harder in the second half set up Kerr to score from close range.
Our victory was secured in front of 77,390 fans inside Wembley, which was a world record for a women’s domestic match, surpassing the 60,739 who attended Atletico Madrid’s home match against Barcelona in 2019 at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Chelsea 3–1 Man United (WSL) - 21 January 2024
Lauren James netted a hat-trick as we defeated Marc Skinner's side by a 3-1 margin at the turn of the year in 2024.
This was James' second hat-trick scored in back-to-back matches at Stamford Bridge, having scored three against Liverpool in November at our famous old stadium.
Nathalie Bjorn made her debut for the Blues that day, and assisted the second goal as she picked out James with a raking long ball forward.
Man United 0–6 Chelsea (WSL) - 18 May 2024
Hayes' tenure as Chelsea boss ended in dramatic fashion as the Blues won our fifth-consecutive WSL title on goal difference, thanks to a 6-0 rout of Manchester United.
A brace from Mayra Ramirez, as well as strikes from Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Sjoeke Nusken, Melanie Leupolz and Fran Kirby, gave us what we needed as we finished the campaign level on points with Manchester City, but seven ahead of them on goal difference.
Man United 0–1 Chelsea (WSL) 30 April 2025
Arsenal's 5-2 defeat to Aston Villa earlier in the evening meant that Bompastor and her team knew a win over Man Utd at Leigh Sports Village would secure the title.
The home side defended resolutely, but the Blues eventually got in front thanks to a Lucy Bronze header that secured a narrow win and confirmed a sixth consecutive WSL title and first under our new head coach.
Chelsea 3–0 Man United (Women's FA Cup final) - 18 May 2025
Having narrowly beaten the Red Devils to clinch the title just over two weeks earlier, Chelsea delivered a more emphatic victory at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup final.
A brace from Sandy Baltimore and a fine strike from Catarina Macario sealed a memorable victory for the Blues and ensured we finished the season with a domestic Treble.
