It was a club tournament unlike any other and by the end of it, Chelsea were world champions. Here we take a statistical look at our Club World Cup campaign and the many landmarks achieved during it and over the course of the season…

Leading the way on the global stage

  • We ranked first in the Club World Cup for goals (17), open play goals (14), different goalscorers (10), and shots (112).

  • We ranked second for shots on target (45), third for Expected Goals (12.5) and fourth for passing accuracy (89.5 per cent).

  • Based on the average age of starting XIs, Chelsea (24 years, 192 days) were the second youngest team in the tournament, behind RB Salzburg (22y, 362d).

  • Chelsea spent the most time of any team leading in games (433 minutes), and the least time as a percentage losing in them (4.4 per cent).

A fantastic finale

  • Chelsea won a final by a three-goal margin for the fourth time – and second this season. We also did so in the 1955 Community Shield (3-0 vs Newcastle United), 2019 UEFA Europa League (4-1 vs Arsenal), and the 2025 UEFA Conference League (4-1 vs Real Betis).

  • Chelsea have won our last six international finals (excluding Super Cups) since losing 0-1 to Corinthians in the 2012 Club World Cup.

  • We are the fifth team, and first from England, to win multiple Club World Cup titles (including previous formats), joining Real Madrid (6), Barcelona (3), Bayern Munich (2), and Corinthians (2).

  • Against Paris Saint-Germain, Joao Pedro became the first Chelsea player in the Premier League era to score three goals across his first two starts for the club in all competitions.

  • Cole Palmer has been directly involved in six goals in his last three finals for club and country – one goal v Spain (Euros), two assists v Real Betis (Conference League) and two goals, one assist v PSG (Club World Cup).

Benfica bedlam

  • The victory over Benfica in the Round of 16 was just the second time the Blues won an extra-time contest by a margin of three goals. We also defeated Swindon Town (5-2) after extra time in a first-round replay in the 1914/15 FA Cup.

  • That Benfica match was suspended in the 86th minute with the score at 1-0 due to a severe weather warning and resumed after a delay of one hour and 57 minutes. The game concluded four hours and 38 minutes after its initial kick-off.

A season unlike any other

  • Enzo Maresca used a club-record 45 players, nine more than the previous record of 36 set in 2023/24.

  • We played 64 matches, which started on 18 August 2024 against Manchester City. We have faced teams from a club record 17 countries across five competitions over 330 days. We have only played more games in one other season: 69 in 2012/13.

  • Chelsea won 41 games, which is our third highest number of wins in a single campaign, following the 2004/05 and 2006/07 seasons (both with 42 wins).

  • We scored 137 goals, which is only the third time we have reached that number in a single campaign (behind 2009/10 with 142 and 2012/13 with 147).
