The results are in for the opening round of Chelsea's Ultimate Goal of the Season competition, with Michael Essien and Eden Hazard securing the top two spots in Group A to progress to the quarter-finals.
The vote, featuring five spectacular strikes spanning two decades of Goal of the Season winners, was contested on the Chelsea Official App and it was Essien and Hazard who came out on top.
Both goals were iconic late equalisers against London rivals at Stamford Bridge. Essien’s swerving bolt from the blue earned us a point in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal, while Hazard’s unstoppable top-corner finish against Tottenham sealed the fate of the title race in 2016.
The two winners beat off Goal of the Season winners from Oscar (2015), Fikayo Tomori (2020), and Pedro Neto (2025).
