The results for Group C of our Ultimate Goal of the Season competition are in, and we can now reveal which two strikes have progressed to the quarter-final vote.
In fact, it is a familiar pairing that have advanced, with Michael Essien and Eden Hazard repeating their Group A success to ensure they will each have two goals featuring in the last eight.
Essien’s crashing volley against Barcelona in 2009 is joined by Hazard’s iconic solo effort scored against Arsenal in 2017 after a vote contested on the Chelsea Official App.
They beat off competition from Goal of the Season winners scored by Ramires (2011), Olivier Giroud (2021) and Conor Gallagher (2023).
