Ben Chilwell’s strike against West Ham has been voted the Chelsea Goal of the Month for September.

Chilwell had not been on the pitch long when he drew us level against West Ham, blending bravery with skill to slip the ball past Lukasz Fabianski from a narrow angle. Chilwell first beat two Hammers defenders in the air before quickly locating the dropping ball and nudging it through the visiting keeper’s legs.

The England wing-back received 51 per cent of the votes cast. Raheem Sterling’s bending effort against RB Salzburg came second with a 33 per cent share of the votes, and Kai Havertz’s winner in the same West Ham game Chilwell weaved his magic was third in our poll.

Chilwell joins Kalidou Koulibaly as a Goal of the Month winner this season, and with so much football to look forward to in October we can expect the next competition to be even more competitive.
